History of Orlando
- Even though Orlando is noted for its theme parks, namely Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, we are home to some major employers. Among those are Walt Disney World employing approximately 57,000, Orange County Public Schools, Adventist Health System (Florida Hospital), Universal Orlando Resort and Orlando Regional Healthcare to name a few.
- Orlando has almost 500 hotels with over 100,000 guestrooms and has more lodging options than nearly any other destination in the world.
- The Orlando Opera, Orlando Ballet, Orlando Philharmonic are just a few of the impressive entertainment options of the area. We should also mention that the House of Blues and Hard Rock offer concerts many nights during the week.
- Orlando proudly recognizes the numerous year-round art exhibits and cultural diversity. The Orlando Science Center and Orange County Regional History Center offers a variety of learning adventures for children of all ages.
- The Orlando area offers an abundance of year-round recreational fun. We have over 2,000 lakes, springs and rivers for swimming, boating, water skiing and fishing. Not to mention over 150 golf courses, hundreds of tennis courts, some 20 plus trails for biking, walking, or roller blading.
- Port Canaveral, a short 40 or so miles away is a gateway to major consumer markets and leisure destinations. This port is home to several cruise lines that will take you to just about anywhere you want to go in the Caribbean.
- The Atlantic Ocean along Brevard County's coast offer some great beaches and parks. Great recreation for the whole family.
- Orlando's International Airport is noted as one of the best-liked by travelers. Over 33 million travelers pass through the gates annually. The Airport Hotel is a 445 room; AAA four diamond rated Hyatt Regency. There are 9300 parking spaces in the three parking garages with tunnel access to the main terminal building.
Auto Tags & Driver's License Centers
Under Florida State law, new residents must apply for their auto tag registration and a Florida title at any of the Tax Collector's locations and provide documentation of ownership. All owners must be present or an appointed power of attorney.As of November 1, 2009, several legislative changes have gone into effect to comply with Real ID Act mandates. Starting Jan 1, 2010 a New Driver License & ID Card Requirements.
- If you have an out-of-state license, you may be able to convert your license without taking a written or road test. Review the requirements for citizens and non-citizens.

Education
Orlando and Surrounding County Public SchoolsRollins College offers a world-class liberal arts education that's more about innovative thinking than training. You can choose from a wide range of majors and minors in their full time and evening undergraduate programs.
Seminole State College of Florida, previously named Seminole Community College, has four campuses; Altamonte, Oviedo, Sanford/Lake Mary and Heathrow. Seminole State College's mission is to serve the community by offering a learning-centered, high-quality educational institution that anticipates and meets its needs with a comprehensive range of programs and services.
Valencia Community College offers seven different campuses with one being specific to Criminal Justice. The remaining campuses are in downtown Orlando Center, Osceola Campus, West Campus, East Campus, Sand Lake Center (Corporate, Professional & Continuing Education Center and the Winter Park Campus.
University of Central Florida UCF stands for opportunity and offers an array of studies; Arts & Humanities; Business Administration; Engineering & Computer Science; Medicine, Nursing, just to name a few.
Hospitals
Arnold Palmer for Children offers a full range of medical services, including many that you will not find elsewhere. Respected by all, Arnold Palmer Hospital is a sanctuary of hope and healing built for kids.Florida Hospital is one of the most comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer programs in Florida. Also noted as one of the most comprehensive neuroscience facilities in the Southeast, it houses a full range of programs.

Orlando Regional Medical Center is one of the largest facilities in the region and offers the most advanced medical care available. ORMC offers the latest in technology and diagnostic imaging along with a highly qualified staff.
Orlando VA Medical Center includes Orlando VA Medical Center, Nursing Home Care Unit, the Domiciliary and Rehabilitation Program. The new Veteran's Hospital is scheduled to open in 2012
